Korean skincare brand Benton is a long-standing pillar in the K-beauty community, both within South Korea and internationally. Famed for their bee venom and snail mucin products, some would describe the brand as the epitome of Korean skincare with a heavy focus on ingredients and results-centric skin solutions. Today we’re going to take a deep dive into the background of Benton skincare and explore several of their star k-beauty products.
The Brand Story
A good place to start is the brand name, Benton. The story behind the name is quite surprising- it’s inspired by the movie “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” in which Benjamin, the main character, grows younger with time. Benton wants to help you hit reset and return your skin to a healthy, youthful condition just as Benjamin grew younger in the movie. It’s a cute back story! The brand’s aim is for Benton products to help you achieve a youthful, glowing complexion in a healthy way rather than through potentially harmful, temporary treatments.
In line with this focus on “healthy” products is the brand’s outlook on ingredients and formulas. Benton's skincare strive to produce formulas with high-quality ingredients that are skin-friendly. They very much emphasize the importance of non-irritating ingredients and ways to create products that are suitable for all skin-types. Although Benton has always used natural preservatives rather than chemical, since 2016 they have been using Ecocert certified natural preservatives. This means they should be effective, sustainably produced, and comfortable on the skin. Additionally, Benton do not mass produce their cosmetics, although of course mass production would cheaper. But no, they want their products to be freshly made and thus stick with smaller batches in production.
An important note is that Benton products get the PETA bunny stamp of approval. Benton do not test on animals and all their products are PETA Certified Cruelty-Free.

Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel
The words aloe, propolis, and soothing immediately draw attention to this one! The cooling gel consistency glides over the skin and lightly moisturises while the ingredients list is concise and filled to the brim with calming, moisturising extracts. The Benton Aloe Propolis Soothing Gel is a go-to for those with acne-prone skin looking to soothe irritation without further aggravating any active breakouts. The combination of 80% aloe leaf water with aloe leaf extract and leaf juice powder is proven to calm and cool the skin. This formula also contains star-ingredient propolis, used globally for its antiseptic and healing properties. Propolis is often cited as being ideal for troubled skin because of its a natural antibacterial and anti-inflammatory ingredient. Overall, this Aloe Propolis Soothing gel is a winning combination for sensitive skins.
Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner
This toner again presents an ingredients list packed with goodness and suitable for all skin types. Unlike astringent toners, the Benton Aloe BHA Skin toner is designed to be hydrating yet not sticky nor heavy on the skin. The watery consistency can be patted into the skin after cleansing. Korean toners are a great skin-prepping step and help products later in your routine absorb more efficiently.
When we examine the ingredients of this Aloe BHA skin toner, the combination is unique. Salicylic acid helps gently exfoliate, reduce sebum, and balance the skin. It’s a great addition for helping refine and smooth skin texture. Although the term “acid” can sound a little intimidating if it's new to you, the low percentage of salicylic acid and the gentle formulation of the Aloe BHA skin toner make it suitable even for sensitive skin. Aloe, a go-to ingredient within Benton's skincare products, cools and soothes while snail mucin brings healing and moisturising properties. The combination means the Aloe BHA skin toner is optimal for all skin types from oily and acne-prone to dry or dehydrated. It’s an ideal step to rejuvenate, calm, and smooth the skin without compromising on gentleness- exactly the result Benton strive to achieve!
Benton Snail Bee Ultimate Serum
The name of this product is perfect- two powerhouse ingredients come together in the ultimate serum. Snail mucin is a classic K-beauty ingredient and a firm favourite for many because of its ability to help nourish, moisturise, and speed up the healing process of pimples and breakouts. Bee venom, if you haven’t heard of its use in skincare before, is a popular Korean acne treatment because of the powerful anti-inflammatory benefits. The two form the basis of this multi-tasking Benton Snail Bee Ultimate serum that can help rejuvenate, strengthen, and calm the skin. Additional ingredients include tea tree oil, known world-wide for its antimicrobial properties; niacinamide, used for brightening skin tone; and hyaluronic acid for hydrating. The Benton Snail Bee Ultimate Serum is a truly versatile product! Simply pat into the skin after toning and before moisturiser and let your skin drink up all the benefits.
Benton Goodbye Redness Centella Mask
Centella Asiatica is a herb traditionally used in Chinese medicine and known for its calming and soothing properties. The extract has been shown to reduce inflammation and bonus, it’s also packed with antioxidants (proven to help with the signs of ageing). The Benton Goodbye Redness Centella mask is carefully formulated with 45% Centella Asiatica leaf water making it an ideal choice for those dealing with redness, irritation, breakouts, or tired, dehydrated skin.
